Every year, we can observe an incredible phenomenon that we call in France “the cry of the vines”.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Indeed, following a late pruning<\/strong> and the change in temperature<\/strong>, the sap rises<\/strong> in the shoots and flows in droplets<\/strong> through the freshly opened “wounds” of the pruning, reminding the shape of tears<\/strong>. The quantity of sap varies<\/strong> according to the temperature<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This phenomenon appears at\u00a0the end of winter<\/strong>, when the soil (at a depth of 25cm) reaches\u00a0the temperature of 10\u00b0C<\/strong>. The vine, having\u00a03 levels of roots<\/strong>\u00a0which can go from\u00a02 to 5 meters<\/strong>\u00a0(and sometimes much more!) will\u00a0draw<\/strong>\u00a0water from the ground. This will\u00a0naturally stimulate<\/strong>\u00a0and make\u00a0the sap go up<\/strong>\u00a0towards the\u00a0freshly cut<\/strong>\u00a0shoots, which will then come out in\u00a0drops<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
